Job searching is the Marketing & Sales side of YOU, Inc. and just like a business, there is a slight building blocks process to it. See below.

Before you can start authentically marketing YOU, Inc. (you) so that you can confidently network, interview and salary negotiate, you need to do a little intel to figure out:

  • your strengths, value, and differentiators that make you stand out from your competition
  • strategize what path or position you want to grow toward
  • brand and develop the marketing communications (resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile).

Most people just jump right into the communications side (resume, cover letter, and LInkedIn development) without true product intel,  strategy, or brand, and are, therefore, unable to authentically sell themselves.

Selling ourselves its not an easy process anyway, unless we have sales experience or are a highly visible leader in our field and are used to this concept. So we have found that developing a mission statement about why you want to show up to work every day and what meaning you want to dial into your job,  becomes the fuel for your job search efforts. Research has also shown that at end of people’s lives, they want to know that their life had some meaning or purpose to someone or something…in some way.
